How To Wear Booties | Fashion

Have you ever walked into a store looking for a pair of boots that just kind of does it all? Alright, maybe not with every single outfit, but styles that you can toss on and don't really have to do any extra work because they just work. Ones that will top off your look but really low maintenance? We call this the staple shoe. The staple shoe is a boot aka ankle boot and bootie(s).

Booties are a great shoe because they are not challenging to master, but the problem may be finding a pair that actually works for you. Lets solve this problem together! But, before we dive in lets learn how to wear them and which style to aim for. Certain styles of booties are more limiting than others, and then you have styles that go with literally everything. Yes! I said everything.

Here are a few of the most popular booties.

chunky heel bootie, peep toe bootie, pointy toe bootie, wedge bootie

Being in the fashion world for many years now I have realized booties are easily a low maintenance staple shoe that every woman should own. Not only are they one of the easiest to style, but they are great for women who are not so gifted in the fashion department. Nearly everyone can figure out a look that goes great with booties.

You really don't need a handful of different booties to get it right. Starting out with a pair that fit your personality and style is going to be the best bet. Don't buy multiple pairs on impulse because more likely than not most of them you will never wear.

After years of putting together outfits, I’ve realized that I definitely need multiple styles of booties to make what I have in my closet work. In other words, one style of bootie doesn’t really fit all looks. Wouldn’t you agree? And it can be challenging to know which style/color bootie is going to be my “winner” for the season – aka the one I actually wear more than once. It’s so frustrating when I think I’ve found the cutest bootie ever, I buy it, and then I’m only able to wear it like 2-3 times that season. I think we all know how that goes, right?

So what is it that makes a bootie just work? What is IT factor? The answer to these two questions is ease and versatility. A pair of boots can spice up almost every look because it it can be so versatile. Ill go ahead and explain which look pairs best with each style bootie above.

Chunky Heel Boot pairs in perfection with skinny jeans and leggings. Chunky Heel Booties give your skinnies a great balancing slimming effect. It makes the proportions as far as your body and wardrobe very well balanced and flattering.

Peep Toe Boot look phenomenal with skirts and dresses. The peep toe effect gives balance. Again, its all about balance. The skin shows with a skirt or dress gives off the bare look without going overboard but accentuates your look

Pointy Toe Boot is a fall staple must-have. If the boot is open with straps as pictured below skinny jeans or leggings are the way to go. The same goes for tall over-the-knee boots but just add a mini skirt instead of leggings if your going for a bada-s look.

Wedge Boot Ahhh the wedge boot, the most versatile of them all believe it or not. This style can literally be worn with anything. Yes, anything! Leggings, skinnies, dresses and all.

Boho Chic Style Guide

Boho Chic is the style known from Bohemian and Hippie influences from back when. Bohemian anything has become and is still topping the hottest go to trends. The best part is almost anyone can rock it. Boho Chic is all about looking natural, and used (in an odd sort of way). Originally, boho is a young style, having originated as such in the ‘60s. It is the style of artist, free spirited and beautiful relaxed people.  So it’s the style of the artists, the style of free and beautiful people and just the style of those, who want to be free. Now Lets get down to the basic points to follow. We know how much you love getting outfit inspo from social media and fashion magazines, but sorting through looks to find a style you can find yourself rockin can be harder than it sounds. The best part about dressing Boho Chic is that you can throw many different things together to make an outfit. It isn't all about color coordination, but what looks freakin amazing together.

The Key Fashion Tips to Follow

  • Wearing natural colored fabrics and textures such as suede, leather, cotton, denim and so on
  • Multiple Layers! This is one of my favorites because I love layering anyways, but it is a MUST when dressing Boho Chic
  • Platform, wedged shoes, or your favorite suede or leather boots.
  • Dressing Boho is all about comfort and natural earthy tones (always remember).
  • Accessories, accessories, and more accessories. Shoot for layers of Boho Jewelry including bracelets, necklaces, earrings, head bands, rings, arm cuffs.
  • Floral patterns, earthy patterns, unusual prints and patterns
  • High waist Jeans, maxi skirts, kimonos
  • Lace everything
  • Hair Styles: Wavy Hair, beach waves, long Tresses, Big high ponys, and braids

Pretty Basic: The Boho-Chic Style

When talking about boho styles there are a few other styles that sometimes confuse many of us. Bohemian style is a mix of Vintage and hippie styles divided into different groups.

  • If you want a more sleek boho look you can do so looking a little more polished and pairing the right items together.
  • Go for a romantic look with some flowy Chiffon material and anything lace
  • Dress like a boho Hippie by incorporating some bright colors with your look.
  • If you want to be down right, straight up "Bohemian" then opt for an arm full of bracelets, bangles, rings, headbands, braids, and tassled hair.

The best part about dressing Boho-Chic is you will almost never repeat the same outfit. You can throw so many different things together to switch up your look

The Basic Components to Boho-Chic Style

Choice of Garments

One of the easiest ways of going boho is including simple vintage looking clothing into your style. The best garments to have are Boho Dresses, Maxi Dresses, kimonos, asymmetrical tops, unique prints and patters, earthy tones, crochet tops, oversize tops, faux fur vests, among many others. Cardigans and Sweaters are another easy garment to switch up your look, trending Now are Aztec pattern cardigans.

As for the boho style shoes,  the best types of footwear that you will need are wedges, fringe boots , flats, ethnic print sandals. Remember to shoot for neutral earthy tones, and brown might become your go to color.

Boho Accessories

Yes, my favorite, Accessories! Boho Jewelry such as midi rings, ring sets, bracelets, cuffs, necklaces. Vintage Style Sunglasses are an absolute must. Add some colorful scarves, fedoras and head bands to perfect your boho-chic look.

The Bachelor: Britt Nilsson

britt-nilsson-3 Who of you all forgot about Chuck Taylor's? I know I sure did. That was until this seasons of The Bachelor. Brit Nilsson draws you in with her stunning beauty and I am always excited to see what she wears next. There is one absolute staple she sports daily that made me fall in love with Chuck Taylor's all over again (who thought that was possible?). In almost every episode she wears her high top red Taylor's with a fabulous pair of skinny jeans. I never noticed how fabulous these kicks look with a great pair of skinny jeans. I think every woman  who likes to rock the sporty look now and then should have these in her wardrobe

Jeremy Scott's Spring 2015 Barbie-Inspired Collection for Moschino Milan Fashion Week

This September was all about Fashion week 2014. A multitude of A- list designers rocked the runway such as Jil Sander, Roberto Cavalli, Armani, Bottega Veneta, but one designer knocked my socks off. Artistic director for Moschino, Jeremy Scott went all Barbie-Inspired on us, and we couldn't be more pleased. During Milan Fashion Week I was looking for something a little more out there and creative, and Jeremy Scott nailed it per usual. Jeremy Scott's  Barbie-inspired Spring 2015 collection for Moschino debuted during Milan Fashion Week. Jeremy Scott is usually pretty creative when it comes to fashion week, and nothing less is expected of him. But, this year he nailed the 80's Barbie-inspired design. Lots of big blonde hair, bright pink colored fabrics, and even skater Barbie! There were a ton of Barbie references from the 1980's, everything retro, bubblegum pink, bold and chunky were amongst the Barbie inspiration. I absolutely think Jeremy Scott won big with this one, and soon celebs will be sporting this line. I can not wait to get my hands on this one. Well done Jeremy Scott and Moschino. (insert applause).
